Under the Energy Performance of Buildings (England and Wales) Regulations 2012,
every property in England & Wales being sold, let, or built must have a valid
Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). Landlords must provide tenants with a valid EPC
before a tenancy starts. The certificate remains valid for
10 years from the date of issue. Marketing a property for sale or let without a
valid EPC in place can result in enforcement action from Trading Standards.

An Energy Performance Certificate — commonly known as an EPC — is the official document issued by an Elmhurst Energy accredited assessor after evaluating the energy efficiency of your property.
